to
H. J. PICKARD

The State of Alabama
Tallapoosa County      Know all men by these presents that I A. G. 
PEDDY have this day mortgaged to Henry J. PICKARD the following 
tract or parcel of land, namely, the west half of the south west 
quarter of section twenty one and township twenty four of range 
twenty three, in Tallapoosa county, Alabama, containing seventy nine 
acres and sixty one hundredths of an acre, as security to him for 
four hundred and eighty one dollars and sixty four cents, the above 
named amount to be paid on the 25th day of December AD 1856. If the 
said PEDDY promptly pays up all of the money for the above specified 
amount by the twenty fifth day of December next, this is to be null 
and void, otherwise it will remain in full force and virtue and the 
said Henry J. PICKARD shall have the right to foreclose this 
mortgage and sell the above 
named land according to law. Signed sealed and delivered in the 
presence of. This the 30th day of April 1856.

The State of Alabama
Tallapoosa County      I Simeon GOOLSBY, Judge of probate in and for 
the state and county aforesaid, hereby certify that  A. G. PEDDY 
whose name is signed to the foregoing conveyance and who is known to 
me, acknowledge before me on this day that being informed of the 
contents of the conveyance, he executed the same voluntarily on the 
day the same bears date. Given under my hand this the 30th day of 
April AD 1856.

The forgoing conveyance was filed in office for record April the 
30th 1856 and duly recorded June the 24th 1856.
