To
H. J. PICKARD

Know all men by these presents that I the undersigned John CANNON of 
the County of Tallapoosa and the state of Alabama for and in 
consideration of the sum of three hundred dollars lawful money of 
the United States of America to me in hand paid by Henry J. PICKARD 
of the county and state aforesaid I have granted, bargained, sold 
and conveyed, and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell, convey 
and deliver unto the said Henry J. PICKARD his heirs and assigns all 
that tracts of land situated lying and being in the county of 
Tallapoosa in the state aforesaid and which is known by the surveys 
as the south west one forth north west quarter of section number 
twenty three in township no twenty two of range no twenty one 
containing forty 10/100 acres. Also the south east one forth north 
east quarter of section no twenty two in township no twenty two of 
range no twenty one containing forty xx/100 acres together with all 
the privileges and appurtenances in anywise appertaining and 
belonging, and all the right title and interest in law and equity 
which I have in and to the same to have and to hold the above 
granted premises unto the said Henry J. PICKARD, his heirs and 
assigns, and to his and their only proper use and behoof forever. 
And I the said John CANNON for myself my heirs executor and 
administrators do hereby covenant - promise and agree to and with 
the said Henry J. PICKARD, his heirs and assigns that I have a good 
right to sell and convey the same and that I will warrant and defend 
the titles of the same to the said Henry J. PICKARD, his heirs and 
assigns against the legal claim of any and all persons whomsoever. 
In testimony where of I have hereunto set my hand and have affixed 
my seal this the twenty sixth day of October AD 1839

Tallapoosa County      I Simeon GOOLSBY clerk of the county court of 
said county and state aforesaid do hereby certify that on the 30th 
day of October AD 1839 the above named John CANNON personally 
appeared before me and acknowledged the foregoing instrument to be 
his free act and deed for the uses and purposes therein contained -
