J. PICKARD The State of Alabama Tallapoosa County Know all men by presents that I Lewis KENT for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar to me in hand paid Henry J. PICKARD the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge and for the better securing the payment of a certain promissory note made payable to me for sixty six dollars due the first day of October 1854 I do by these presents give grant bargain and sell all my present crop of corn and cotton for the present year 1855 to the said Henry J. PICKARD his heirs and assigns and I do hereby covenant and agree with the said Henry J. PICKARD that I will gather and save the said crop and deliver it to said Henry J PICKARD as it is gathered and said Henry J. PICKARD shall have full power and authority to sell said crop at his discretion at public out cry or otherwise so as to secure the highest price for the same and after paying said debt and cost that accrue on the sale and all expenses that said H. J. PICKARD may be out the balance if any to be paid me the Lewis KENT In witness whereof I here unto set my hand and seal this 26th day of April 1855 Lewis KENT (seal) The State of Alabama Tallapoosa County I G. SPEAK a justice of the peace in and for the county and state of aforesaid do hereby certify that Lewis KENT whose name is signed to the foregoing conveyance and to me known after hearing the content of the conveyance acknowledges that he signed the same voluntarily on the day the same bears date.
