HARRIS to Henry J. PICKARD The State of Alabama Tallapoosa County Know all men by these present that whereas I Peter E. HARRIS am justly indebted to Henry J. PICKARD in the sum of forty seven dollars and fifty cents evidenced by an promissory note bearing date herewith and due the twenty fifth day of December next, now therefore in order to secure the said PICKARD in the punctual payment of the same I hereby sell and convey unto the said PICKARD the following property to wit, one bay filley two years old and my entire crop of wheat and oats that I may raise the present year and fifteen head of hogs and fifteen head of sheep to have and to hold the aforegranted property unto the said PICKARD his heirs and assigns upon the following conditions to wit, If I the said Peter E. HARRIS shall sell and truly pay off or cause to be paid the above described note at maturity. Then the above sale to be void, otherwise to remain in full force and effect and I authorize the said PICKARD in case of failure on my part to pay the above note at maturity to take possession of the above described property after advertising the same ten days mentioning the time and place of sale to sell the same at public outcry in the town of Dadeville for cash and apply the proceeds of such sale to the payment of the above note and interest, and if any over pay to me the said Peter E. HARRIS, In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal this the 21st day of January AD 1858 P. E.
