On this 7th day of September 1892 before me J P Benson, of town of Forest Home and Ex officia Justice of the Peace _____ and for said State ____ personally came Benjamin F. Young, aged 73 Years, a resident of said State and Co., and whose P.O. address is Forest Home, Butler Co., ALA, who being duly sworn according to law declares as follows: I am the identical person of the above name who was a volunteer in the company commanded by Capt. Broadnox Lt Chas. Stowe of Alabama Volunteers in the war with the Creek Indians: That I volunteered in Tallapoosa Co., Ala, on or about the 3rd day of January 1836 and was honorably discharged at Montgomery Ala, on or about the first day of May 1836 having served 30 days and was honorably discharged for which service I have received a 40 acre land warrant which I have disposed of and am not able to furnish the number. I have not served in the military or naval service of the United States other than as above stated. I am not in receipt of a pension under any act of Congress nor made any other application therefor I constitute and appoint A.F. Posey of Vicksburg, Miss my atty. in this claim with fee of ten dollars on allowance of claim. Benjamin Young Additional Comments: (note on side of copy of letter) This man is mistaken in the dates Capt.
