Simmons,Sr. is very ill at this writing. He is in his 88th year, and has been living in Tallapoosa County since 1857 and reared a quite a large family,having 15 children, 43 grandchildren, 46 great-grand children. Earle April 18 1902 Mrs. Net Cosby of Dadeville, and Mr. Bud Simmons, of Phenix City are with their sick father, Mr. J.W. Simmons. Earle May 2nd, 1902 John W. Simmons aged 86 years died 18 Apr 1902. He is survived by his two sisters and 9 children. His sisters are Mrs. Jane Yarborough of Roxana, and Mrs. Bettie Hays of Earle. Additional Comments: He is listed in these as age 88 and 86. The second is correct. Tax records indicate that he was in Tallapoosa in 1856. He moved there from Chambers County,Alabama. One of the notices mentions a Bud Simmons. This was his son Tillman S.
