Ashland Progress
O. B. Guthrie, age 34, was accidentally killed near Selma, on Dec. 19, while 
doing construction work for the Alabama Power Co. He had spent his entire life in 
the Guthrie's Chapel and Millerville communities and had a host of friends, who 
are deeply grieved at his tragic death. He joined the Methodist Church at 
Guthrie's Chapel in early life and remained a faithful and loyal member until the 
end. He married Miss Vida Nelson and to this union were born two children, Doyle 
and Annete. He is survived by hie wife, children, parents, Mr. and Mrs. Martin 
Guthrie, four sisters and a host of relatives. Funeral services were conducted at 
Liberty Methodist Church by Rev. 0. M. Jones and Elder B. B. Finley and interment 
was in the church cemetery, with Blair in charge.
