S. Martin, one of the well-known citizen of Clay County died at the home of his son, J. H. Martin, at Millerville, Monday afternoon. He was about 80 years of age. Mr. Martin belonged to a prominent old family. He resided in the Millerville community where he reared his family. After his children were all grown he moved to Ashland where he resided for several years. He is favorably remembered here as a good citizen and a man worthy of the high esteem in which he was held by all who knew him. He was a loyal and faithful member of the Methodist church. Five sons and three daughters are left to mourn his death. They are Sam Martin of Pinkneyville, Mrs. J. W. Kemp, of Tallapoosa. Ga., Rev. L. P. Martin, of Coaling, H. E. Martin, of Fairfield, J. H. Martin, Mrs. L. A. Smith and Mrs. J. R. Nelson of Millerville and Elbert Martin, of Goodwater He is survived by two brothers Rev. E. L. Martin, of Millerville and Elisha Martin, who resides in Texas. His remains were buried Tuesday in the Liberty cemetery near old Pinkneyville.
