To this union ten children were born eight boys and two girls. He joined the Primitive Baptist church in Tallapoosa County. Ala. He was baptized by Elder Bob Carlisle. He was also in the constitution of the Valley Grove church in Tallapoosa County, Alabama, on October 13, 1873. His qualities as a consistent Baptist, with never tiring disposition to help the dear children of God to keep house for the Lord, led the brethren and sisters of his church to select him for their deacon. He leaves five sons, two girls and a loving wife, who is a mother in Isarael, together with all lovers of truth and right living who knew him to mourn his passing away, which occurred May 30, 1920, at the age of 79 years, 10 months. 6 days. While he sleeps, we trust in God for the coming of His dear Son when they that are dead shall hear His voice and come forth fashioned like unto the glorious body of Christ Jesus our Lord. Signed J.D.
