His father was Major James W. COOPER, who, for many years, resided near Camp Hill, in Tallapoosa County, and was a man highly respected for many virtues of head and heart. When a mere youth, Mr. Milton COOPER removed to Wetumpka and commenced the Drug business with his elder brother, W. B. COOPER, and continued in the business until the war, when he formed a co—partnership with his brother-in-law, Major Edward S. READY, in the Dry Goods business. After the close of the war, Mr. COOPER returned again to the drug business, his brother William then being dead, and continued in it up to the time when his health forced him to retire from active life altogether. For the past six months he had been confined to his room and bed. His nervous system first giving away and then came paralysis, destroying whatever of energies he had left. We believe we speak the sentiments of this community when we say Mr. Milton COOPER was one of the most upright and honorable of men. His manners were gentle and unassuming, pleasant and affable, alike to rich and poor, and if he had enemies, none knew He was for many years a Mason and a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. A good man has gone, and may the sods lie lightly on his grave. This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/alfiles/ File size: 2.0 Kb
