Ashland Progress
Mrs. Cassie Smith of Ashland, widow of the late B. C. Smith died here last 
Thursday, after a short illness, and was buried at Valley Grove Church in 
Tallapoosa County on Friday following. She was 68 years of age. She was for a 
long-time switchboard operator in the telephone office in Ashland. She is 
survived by two brothers and two sisters in New Site, and one brother in Fla, She 
was a member of the Ashland Baptist Church. Funeral was conducted by Elder H. H. 
Goodman and Rev. J. N. Floyd. Pallbearers were K. J. White, Alwin White, J. R. 
Allen, J. W. Parsons, J. E. Hardman and Bob Morrison. White in charge.
