The James Anderson Gamble, Jr. Family; Circa of 1899

Willie Thomas Gamble was my father and was born September 1898. In the picture 
he is being held on the lap of his mother, Susan Frances Brown Gamble. His age 
at the time of the picture is estimated to be about one year old; therefore 
the picture was probably taken in the summer of 1899, in Tallapoosa Co., AL, 
probably in Kelleyton. 

James Anderson Gamble, Jr and Susan Frances Brown Gamble had a total of 14 
children, all born in Tallapoosa Co. The 11 in the picture lived to adulthood. 
Three died in infancy: Ellie Huntice Gamble in December 1878; Mary Hattie 
Gamble in 1886; and Flora Bell Gamble in 1895. All three are buried in the 
Thomas Family Cemetery in Alexander City. Seabourn Jones Thomas was their 
grandfather.
