Item 1. It is my desire that my just debts be paid. Item 2 I will to my son Daniel Ray one feather bed and to my son Elijah Ray one under bed one cotton mattress 2 pullars (sic) and one bolster, to my son William Ray one under bed 2 pullars (sic) and one bolster and my other feather bed to be divided equally among my three daughters Charity Vickers, Sarah Ray and Elizabeth Sowell and my bed clothing all to be equally divided among my seven children Daniel Ray, Elizabeth (sic) Ray, William Ray, Irvin L. Ray my sons and Charity Vickers Sarah Ray and Elizabeth Sowell my three daughters. Item 3 I will that the balance of my effects to be sold to the highest bidder and the proceeds to be equally divided among my seven children that is living now and Ransom G. Rays two sons Andrew J Ray and Silas Ray now orphans and the minors to have one share of the money that is realized from said sale and my son Daniel Ray to make the bona that the law and probate court directs and take control of Andrew J Ray and Silas Ray minors shares of the money and control the same by loaning it or using it himself by (can’t read) with what the law directs in such cases til (sic) the said minors becomes of age then pay the same sum equally between them. Item 4 I want what money that is due to be the same disposition made of, that is made of the proceeds of the sale Done assigned this 1st day of February 1867. Sarah Ray Her Mark In presence of J. M. Berry J. M. Ray T. C. Thomas State pf Alabama Tallapoosa County Probate Court of said County In the matter of the Probate of the last will and testament pf Sarah Ray deceased. Before me Allen D. Sturdivant Judge of the Probate Court, personally appeared in open Court, James M. Berry, and James M. Ray and Thomas C. Thomas who having been by my first respectively duly sworn and examined did and do depose and say on Oath that they are each subscribing witnesses to an instrument of the writhing now shown to them, and which reports to be the last will and testament of said Sarah Ray deceased late an inhabitant of this County; that said Sarah said deceased signed and executed said instrument on the day they said and bears dates and declares the same to be her last will and testament, and that afficants set their signatures thereto on the day the same (can’t read) date in subscribing witnesses to same in presence of said testatrix; that said testatrix was of sound mind and disposing memory; and in the opinion of deponents fully capable of making her will; at the time the same was to made aforesaid, afficiants further state and said testatrix was, on the day of said dates of said will of the full age of twenty one years and upwards. Ray 1855 Tallapoosa Co., AL Charity Ray married (1) James Vickers 14 Jun 1857 (2) John D. Ray, Sarah’s husband, 1 Aug 1871 both in Tallapoosa Co., AL Irvin L. Ray married Sarah E. Patterson 16 Jun 1861 Tallapoosa Co., AL William Ray-Due the several William Rays, I haven’t been able to prove which one he could be. The J. M. Ray (James Mosley Ray) listed as a witness is the son of Ransom Ray, the brother of Silas M. Ray.
