Tuscaloosa County AlArchives Cemeteries.....The OId Cemetery - Complete Survey ************************************************ Copyright. It is located on River Road. It is not hard to find, and it is marked by a big black sign that clearly says “The Old Cemetery” and “Bryce Hospital” on it, along with a date. It is on right side of the road if you are heading west toward the Tuscaloosa Public Library or Tuscaloosa Chevrolet. It is located where Highway 82 and River Road cross, on the west side of 82. Information: This cemetery is no longer in use but is well kept. It was a cemetery for Bryce Hospital and many patients are buried there. In the far right hand corner of the cemetery, towards the front, are many graves that simply have numbers on them. I assume that these were patient numbers from the hospital, and did not record them. About half of the tombstones were broken, but the cemetery is not overgrown. This might not be a complete listing and I cannot say that it is totally accurate, because there were graves all over the place, not in a central location. Also, I can probably get you a picture of a grave, if you would like. Just email me and I will see what I can do. Surveyed Fall 2003 by Clark and Anna Solomon. Listed in alphabetical order because of the sporadic order of the graves. June 17, 1854 February 27, 1880 “In Memory of My Husband” Additional Comments: One broken tombstone has the lone date “Dec. 23, 1917” on it. As mentioned before, there are many broken tombstones in the cemetery; probably close to half of them are. This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/alfiles/ File size: 2.9 Kb
