AL, 1841-1848 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Tuscaloosa County, Alabama Deed Book T, p. 350: This Indenture made the ninth day of January in the year of our Lord one Thousand eight hundred and forty one between Joseph H Durrett and Caroline his wife of the first part and John Countess of the second part. Witnesseth, that the said party of the first part, for and in Consideration of the sum of three Hundred Dollars to them in hand paid, at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents by the party of the second part, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath granted bargained sold and conveyed and do by these presents grant bargain sell and convey unto the said party of the second part, and to his heirs and assigns forever the following discribed tract of land lying in Tuscaloosa County to wit the west half of the south wist quarter of Section Twenty three in Township Twenty two Range nine wist in the district of land sold at Tuscaloosa Alabama Together with all and singular the Tenements and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining and also all the estate right title interest claim or demand whatever of them the said party of the first part either in Law or equity of in and to the above bargained premises and every part & parcel thereof. To have & to hold to the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns to the whole and only proper use benefit & behoof of the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever And the said party of the first part for Themselves their heirs executors and administrators do hereby warrant and will forever defend the title of the above bargained premises to the said John Countess his heirs and assigns free from the Claim or Claims of all and every person or persons whomsoever: as also the claims of the General Government. In Testimony whereof the aforesaid party of the first part hath hereunto set their hands & affixed their seals the day & year above written.
