AL, 1841-1848 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Tuscaloosa County, Alabama Deed Book V, p. 269: This Indenture made the 20th day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty six between John Durrett and Ann Durrett of the first part and John Countiss of the second part, Witnesseth, That the said party of the first part, for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and fifteen Dollars to us in hand paid, at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents by the party of the second part, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath granted, bargained sold and conveyed and do, by these presents, grant, bargain, sell and convey unto the said party of the second part, and to his heirs and assigns forever, a certain tract and parcel of land known in land office of the land district of Tuscaloosa as E1/2 of NW 1/4 of Section 22 Township 22 range 9 West Containing 80 acres more or less, Together with all and singular the tenements and appurtenances thereunto belonging, or in any wise appertaining and also all the estate right title, interest claim or demand whatever of John Durrett and Ann Durrett the said party of the first part, either in law or equity of in, and to the above bargained premises, and every part and parcel thereof, to have & to hold to the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns, to the whole and only proper use, benefit, & behoof of the said party of the second part, his heirs and assigns forever, And the said party of the first part for their heirs executors and administrators do hereby warrant, and will forever defend the title of the above bargained premises to the sd. John Countiss his heirs and assigns, free from the Claim, or Claims of all and every person or persons whomsoever as also the Claims of the General Government.
