ALGenWeb State Archivist - Lygia Dawkins Cutts ----------------------------------------------------------------------- The attached submissions for Tuscaloosa Co. are from Linda Schmehl AUG 1998 Tuscaloosa County, Alabama Deed Book W, p. 273 Know all men by these presents that I William Robertson of the county and state aforesaid for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars to me in hand paid by my negro man Levi the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged and for the further consideration that said negro have been faithful slave and servant to me have and do by these presents give unto the said negro his freedom from me and my heirs forever as far as the laws of the state of Alabama and the ordinances of my incorperation will authorize and permit hereby freeing him from my service or the service of my heirs or assigns as fully and absolutely as I the said William Robertson and authorized to do as aforesaid the said negro man Levi being about the age of fifty five years colour yellow in testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 25th day of October A D 1847. Blount Clerk ************************************************************************* Tuscaloosa County, Alabama Deed Book W, p.537 This indenture made and the fifteenth day of May 1845 between David Robertson and Sarah his wife of the state of Alabama Tuscaloosa county of the first part and William Mize of the state and county aforesaid of the second part Witness that the said party of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred and ten dollars to them in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presence by the party of the second part the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained sold and conveyed and do by these presents grant bargain sell and convey unto the said party of the second part and to his heirs and assigns forever the east half of the North West quarter of Section seven in township twenty two of Range eleven west in the district of Tuscaloosa and state of Alabama containing eighty and one hundredths of an acre together with all and singular the tenements and appertenances thereunto belonging and in any wise appertaining and also all the estate right title interest or demand whatsoever of the said party of the first part either in law or equity of in and to the above bargained premises and every part and parcel thereof to have and to hold to the said of the second part his heirs and assigns to the whole and proper use benefit and behoof of the said party of the second part for themselves their heirs executors and administrators do hereby warrant and forever defend the title of the above bargained premises to the said part of the second party and to his heirs and assigns free from all claims in testimony we have hereunto set our hands and seal the day and year above written. Samuel parties of the first part and William Cochran party of the second part all of the county of Tuskaloosa Alabama Witnesseth that the parties of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of eight hundred and ten dollars to them in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents by the said party of the second part the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have and by these presents do grant bargain sell and convey unto the said party of the second part and to his heirs and assigns forever the following lands lying and being in township No 21 twenty one in Range No 11 eleven West in the County of Tuskaloosa viz all the west half of the south east quarter of section No 12 twelve all the east half of the south west quarter of said section No 12 twelve and thirty 64/100 acres off of the east side of the west half of the south west quarter of said section No 12 twelve and the west half of the north west quarter of section No 13 thirteen containing in all two hundred 270 acres more or less together with all and singular the tenements heiridiments and apperentenances thereto belonging or in any wise appertaining also all the estate dower right of dower and all right title interest claim or demand whatever of the said parties of the first part and each of them wither in law or equity of in and to the above bargained premises and every part and parcel thereof to have and to hold unto the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns to the sole and only proper use benefit and behoof of the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever and the said parties of the first part and each of them for himself his heirs executors and administrators doth hereby warrant and will forever defend the title to above bargained premises and every part thereof to the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever free from the claims or claims of all and every person or persons whomsoever In testimony whereof the parties of the first part have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written. Blount Clerk *************************************************************************** Tuscaloosa County, Alabama Deed Book W, p. 427 This indenture made and entered into between Jacob Holland of the first part & John Robertson of the second part Witnesseth that the said Holland doth in consideration of the sum of one thousand dollars to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained sold & confirmed & by these presents doth bargain sell release & confirm unto the said John Robertson his heirs executers administrators and assigns forever the following described tract of land to wit sixty acres of the west half North West sector of section No. 16 township N 22 Range 12 West also the East half North east sector of section No 17 Township 22 Range 12 west also the North East quarter of North West quarter of section 7 Township 22 Range 12 west containing two hundred and nineteen acres situated in the land district subject to sales at Tuscaloosa together with all and singular the hereditament & appertenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining thereunto to have and to hold forever unto him his heirs executors administrators or assigns and the Jacob Holland doth for himself his heirs executers and assigns warrant and will forever defend the above described land against the claim or claims of all & every person or persons lawfully claiming the same as also from the claims of the general government in witness whereof I do hereunto set my hand and seal this the ninth day of February 1848.
