It is our painful duty to announce the death of our friend and fellow-citizen, 
Dr. Simeon J. Eddins. He died at 1 o’clock Wednesday morning, the 27th inst.

In his death, Tuskaloosa has been deprived of one of her best citizens, and 
his family and friends have sustained a loss which time can never repair.

The very high estimation in which Dr. Eddins was held in this community was 
evidenced by the unusually large concourse of citizens which attended his 
funeral. We had never before seen so many persons assembled on such an 
occasion. The Rev. A. J. Battle presented his funeral. He was buried in 
accordance with rights and ceremonies of the Masonic Fraternity of which Order 
we was a worthy and exemplary member. The Dr. having been a consistent member 
of the Baptist Church died, as he had lived, a Christian.

We tender his afflicted family our heart felt sympathies in this sad 
dispensation of Providence.

We hope that some friend will prepare a suitable obituary for publication in 
our next issue
