He had been sick for a long while, but had borne his afflictions without a murmur. And was ready to be called up higher. He was a valiant soldier in the civil war but laid down his arms in 1865 and joined the army of the Lord, and has been a valiant soldier of the cross ever since. He has for many years been a member and deacon of Mt. Paran Church where his services will be greatly missed. Bro. Snyder leaves a wife and eight children and many friends and relatives who are greatly grieved over the loss but our loss is his eternal gain, and may we all be as Bro. Snyder, ready for the summons, that we may meet him on the other shore where we shall part no more. Additional Comments: John R. (Wright) was married to Elmina Reese in September 1859. His father and mother were Jacob and Elizabeth Riley Snyder. He is buried at Old Center Church Cemetery, Northport, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama.
