We have been frequently asked to give something on the Savage family, and here produce what has been gathered from authentic sources, concerning the northern branch of the family which may touch some of the Maryland and Virginia descendants. Sargeant John Savage of Middleton, Conn., married Elizabeth Dublin, (Daubigne) in Hartford, Feb. 1O, 1653. He died March 6th, 1684-5, and was a free holder in 1654, having 805 acres. He had eleven children, as follows: 1. Captain John Savage, of Middleton, Md. married (1684) Mary Ramsey. Capt. John was born in 1652, died 1726, commissioned 1711. 2. Elizabeth, born 1655, Nathaniel White, 1678. 3. Sarah born 1657, married Israel Wilcox, 1677-8. 4. Thomas, born 1659, died 1659. 5. Hannah, born 1661, died May 1661. 6. Mary, born 1663, died 1723, married first John Wetmore, April 1686, second Obadiah Allen. 7. Abigail, born 1666, married Edward Shepard, 1687. 8. Captain William, born 1668, died January 1726-7. Commissioned Capt. 1719, was deacon 1716, married first Christiane Mould, born 1677, died 1719, widow of Daniel Clarke, 1726, was deputy to General Assembly 1715 and thirteen times thereafter. 9. Lieutenant Nathaniel, born May 7th, 1671, died in I734, commissioned Lieutenant in 1725. Married Esther Ramsey, 1696; she was born in 1674, died 1750. She was sister to Mary, wife of Captain John. 1O. Rachel, born 1673, married John Spinning or Spinnery of Guilford, Conn. 11. Hannah, born 1676. The issue of Captain John and Mary Ramsey were: 1. John, born Feb. 1683, died March 1683. 2. Sergeant Thomas, born 1684, died 1775, married Mary Goodwin of Hartford, Conn, 171O, who was born in 1685, died in 1758, daughter of William Goodwin, grandson of Ozias Goodwin, a first settler. 3. John, born in 1685, died in 1686. 4. John, born in 1688. 5. Mary, born in 1690, married David Hurlburt, 1709. 6. William, born in 1693 and in 1763 married his cousin, Hannah Savage, Nov. 1729. She was born in 1749. 7. Elizabeth, born in 1796. 8. Abigil, born in 1798, died in 1799. 9. Sarah, born in 1700, died in 1782, married William Savage, her cousin. 1O. Rachel, born in 1703-4. 11. Mary, born in 1706. The issue of Nathaniel and Esther Ramsey were nine children, as follows: Nathaniel, Abigail, Susannah, Mary, Elizabeth, Lieutenant John who married Mary Boardman in 1735 (and had four children), Nathaniel Jr. and Jabez. The issue of Sergeant Thomas Savage and Mary Goodman were eight children: Thomas and(2) Mary, twins, born in 1711, John, born in 1712, died in 1792, married Martha Beckly in 1742, buried in East Berlin, his descendants are still living. Thomas, born in 1714, died in 1798, married Martha Whitmore in 1740-1. He removed to Washington, Conn., thence to Hartford, Vt. Was in the French and Indian Wars. Mary, born in 1716. Ebenezer, born in 1718-99, died in 1767, married Rebecca Ramsey, 1743. Removed to Lanesboro, Mass. 1764, he was a sargeant in the French and Indian Wars. Nathanien, born in 1721, died young, Samuel, born in 1779, married Sarah Kirley 1748, was commissioned Captain in the Revolutionary War in the Sixth Regiment in 1772. The Issue of Captain William Savage and Christiana Mould were six children as follows: 1. Martha, born 1697 2. William, born 1699, died in 1774, married Sarah Savage. He was a prominent deacon in the church. William married Mary Savage. 3. Christian, born in 1702. 4. Hannah, born in 1704, died in 1748. She married one of her cousins. 5. Sarah, born in 1708. 6. Captain Joseph, born in 1711, died in 1755. Married first Mary, who died in 1733, second, Prudence. He was commissioned Captain in the Sixth Regiment in 1754, their children were eleven for both marriages, as, follows: 1. Prudence, born in 1737, married Elias White in 1760. 2. Joseph born in 1738, lost his life in the Revolutionary War as ensign. 3. Mary Whitmore, born in 1740, married Fortunatus Taylor, 1750. 4. Lucy, born in 1741, died in 1812, married Jacob White in 1760. 5. Samuel Stow, born in 1743, was a Captain in the Revolutionary War. 6. Abijah, born in 1744, died in 1835, married Martha Torry. He was Lieutenant in Arnold's Expedition to Quebec in 1775, and afterwards Capt. in the Revolutionary Army. 7. Simeon, born in 1746. 8. Lemuel, born in 1747-8, died in 1749. 9.
