(Camel) Campbell was living at Spencer P. O. Walker County Alabama at the time of his enlistment. John's first wife was Jane Catherine Blevins they had three children. Flora Ann was born August 22, 1857 and married Samuel H. Harbison, Sarah Taylor born March 29, 1859 married Obediah T. Turner, John Nathaniel born March 2, 1862, Jane died March 06, 1863 and is buried at the Wilson Cemetery, Winston County Alabama. John married Jane's sister Rachel at November 23, 1864. she is buried at the Wilson Cemetery, Winston County Alabama. John and Rachel children are General Strait, Byrd Sherman, Asa G. Lucretia, James, Susan Elizabeth, Alexander and Henry Jackson. After the death of Rachel at the age of 71 years John married Sis Swindle December 09, 1906 in Cullman County Alabama.
