O'Rear, 84, one of Jasper's oldest inhabitants, died at the family hone here Friday night, January 20, after a short illness. Mr. O'Rear was able to go to the breadfast table Thursday morning and had a sudden attack of illness while at breakfast as a result of cerebral hemorrhage and became unconscious. Relatives and friends realized death was near, and after lingering between life and eath until Friday night, he slowly peacefully passed to the Great Beyond. Funeral services, in charge of Rev. Frank Atkins, of Northport, assisted by Rev. T. L. McDonald, were held at the residence Sunday at 2:30 p.m. and interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery. A.B. Legg and Sons directing. Active pall bearers were Walter Lamkpin, Joe Lollar, Lon Richardson, Robert Argo, Bruce Jones, Dewey Winters, George Gallacher, Brady Clark and Robin Boteler. Honorary pall bearers were the officials of the First Baptist Church and other intimate friends. Surviving are three sons, Caine, Judson and Maynard O'Rear; two daughters Miss Mabel O'Rear and Mrs. W.W. Woods.
