The Mountain Eagle newspaper 4/1885

Silas B. RAY was born in Meriweather County, Georgia, April 18, 1831, emigrated 
to Tallapoosa County with his parents where he married Candance MARTIN. He 
moved to Walker County, Alabama in 1854. Joined Baptist Church in 1857 and was 
one of the charter members when Hermon Church was constituted in 1858. He died 
March 30, 1885, age 53 years 11 months. Having lost his wife he married Miss 
Francis ROGERS and by her had three children.
