Guardianship papers of Edward CLANTON’S children, 22 Sep 1817, Town of Rodney, 
Washington Co, AL 

“Mr. CLANTON’S Papers”

At a special Orphans Court began and held agreeably to appointments at S.J. 
PRICE in the Town of Rodney on Monday the 22nd day of Sept. 1817.  Present the 
worshipful Lewis SEWALL Esq., Chief Justice of Washington County.  Ordered that 
letters of guardianship issue to Robt. CALLER over Patsey CLANTON & Lewis D. 
CLANTON , minors - he offers James P. HAINSWORTH (?) as security who is 
appointed by the court and it is further ordered that they be bound in the sum 
of thirty two hundred Dollars amt. for the faithful discharge of his duties as 
guardian.

Ordered by the Court that Nancy Clanton be and she is hereby appointed guardian 
of Catherine CLANTON, Elizabeth CLANTON, and Mark CLANTON.  She offers 
Robt.CALLER as security which is approved of by the Court for her faithful 
performance as guardian of the aforesaid Catherine CLANTON, Elizabeth CLANTON, 
and Mark CLANTON.
