All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/al/alfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Stephen Lee leeactive@aol.com December 5, 2003, 4:23 pm Written: October 31 1860 Recorded: November 5 1860 Wilcox County Deed Book "O" Page 55 The State of Alabama} Wilcox, County} Know all men by these presents that I Jane Davis, of the state and county above named for, and in consideration of the love, good will and affection, which I have and do bear, towards my daughter Sarah Ann Andress, now living in the State of Louisiana and City of New Orleans and for the further consideration of the sum of one dollar, to be paid by her into my Estate, have given, granted, and conveyed and by these presents, do freely, fully and unreservedly Give, grant, deliver and convey unto the said Sarah Ann Andress during her natural life, and at her death, to her children a certain negro girl named, Rose, about seventeen years of age; together with an equal share of my estate, which my other children, arising from the sale of my land, and other property, which I wish sold, except my negros and my debts paid there from, and then the balance divided equally between my children and the children of my deceased daughter, Martha J Farish. The above negro girl, and distributive share of my Estate above named, I give to my said daughter Sarah Ann Andress for life time, not to be subject - to the debts, engagement contracts or liabilities of her present, or any other husband or any one else, and at her death to go to and become the property of her children. In testimony whereof I have here unto set my hand and affixed my seal. This 31st day of October in the year of Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty. her Jane X Davis mark A.C. Blackmon, a subscribing witness to the foregoing conveyance known to me, appeared before me this day, and being sworn, stated that Jane Davis the grantor in the conveyance voluntarily executed the same in his presence; and in the presence of the other subscribing witnesses, on the day the same bears date; that he attested the same in the presence of the grantor and of the other witnesses, and that such other witnesses subscribed their names as witnesses in his presence.
