Wilcox County Deed Book "O" Page 61

The State of Alabama} 
      Wilcox, County}  This indenture made the sixth day of June one 
thousand eight hundred and sixty, between Jane Davis of the County of Wilcox 
and State of Alabama of the first part and Andrew J. Davis of the same 
county and state of the second part.  Witness that the said party of the 
first part for in consideration of the sum of fifty dollars lawful money of 
the United States to her in hand paid by before the delivery hereof hath 
bargained and sold by these presents doth bargain, sell, remise, release to 
the said party of the second part, his heirs & assigns forever all that 
certain piece or parcel of land, lying & being in the County of Wilcox & 
State of Alabama, which is known & described as follows (to wit) The north 
west fourth of south east quarter of section four Township ten in range 
eight containing forty acres more or less to have to hold the above granted 
premises & all the appurtenance there unto belonging to the said party of 
the second part his heirs and assigns forever.  And that said party of the 
first part doth covenant & agree with the said party of the second part that 
at the time of the delivery hereof she is the lawful owner of the premises 
above described & seized thereof in fee simple absolute & that she will 
warrant & defend  the above granted premises against the lawful demands all 
persons both in law & equity to the said party of the second part his heirs 
& assigns forever.  The testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal 
the day & year above written.

The State of Alabama} 
      Wilcox, County}  I W.S. Wright, Justice of the Peace in said County
hereby certify that Jane Davis, whose name is signed to the foregoing 
conveyance & who is known to me acknowledged before me that being informed 
of the contents of the conveyance, she signed the same voluntarily on the 
day the same bears date.  Given under my hand this 6th day of June 1860.
