S. Dickinson Ends His Life With Bullet. --- Information reached Camden Friday from Coy, that James S. Dickinson, a prominent planter and merchant of that place, had fatally shot himself early that morning. But few of the details of the tragedy are known, except that after giving directions to his farm hands early in the morning, he retired to his room. Shortly afterwards the shot was heard and he was found lying across a bed. Life was not extinct and physicians were hastily summoned, but he only lived about two hours never regaining consciousness. Mr. Dickinson was wide and favorably known. He was of a jovial disposition and the manner of his death was a great shock to his friends. For some time he had been in poor health and it is thought that brooding over this caused him to take his life. From a poor boy he had by close attention to business amassed quite a large fortune. Only a few months ago he purchased a large plantation from Messrs. J. M. and Will McLeod, near Coy, paying them for it the sum of $53,000. The deceased was unmarried and was born and raised in Wilcox county, and has a good many relatives in this section of the country.
