T. Lyles Killed. The people of this community were greatly shocked on Wednesday afternoon of last week when it was learned that Mr. J. T. Lyles, a well known young man, had been shot and almost instantly killed in a personal encounter with Dr. I. B. Foster at the drug store of Foster & Jones. The cause of the difficulty appears to have been the result of a misunderstanding over a business transaction. Some hot words had passed and Mr. Lyles, it is said, had gone to the drug store to demand an apology of Dr. Foster and the encounter followed in which there were three shots fired that culminated in the deplorable tragedy. Dr. Foster gave bond for his appearance before Justice Cochran, who will hold an examining trial next Monday. The plea will be self defense.
