M. } Camden, Ala., Jan'y 17, 1908 } It has pleased God to remove from his earthly dwelling place our Past Master, John Tyler Cook, who died in Montgomery, Ala., on January 6, 1908, aged 66 years. Brother Cook was born at Rehoboth, Ala., and was the son of Enoch H. Cook, Sr., a very zealous Mason, and for whom E. H. Cook No. 381, at Gastonburg, was named. He was initiated in Dale Lodge in April, 1865; received the fellowcrafts degree in July, 1865, and was raised to the Master's Lodge on August 4, 1865. He served in various offices of the Lodge, and in 1874, Brother Cook was elected our Worshipful Master. He received the Chapter Degrees in 1870, and was for several years the High Priest of Camden Chapter No. 40. In 1880 he was exalted in Wilcox Council No. 24 Royal and Select Masons, and for many years was its Recorder. About 20 years since, he removed to Montgomery, but always retained his membership in our Lodge, Chapter and Council. Judge Cook held the esteem of the people among whom he lived. His sympathy with the sick, the poor and the distressed; his unswerving truthfulness and incorruptible integrity, his devotion to his Southland, and to his county people, in their hour of trial and need; his love of Free Masonry and his fellow men, were pronounced traits in his character and formed the brightest jewels in his earthly diadem, to give place, we trust, to that crown of glory, which fadeth not away; therefore to express our appreciation of him, Be it resolved, That in the death of brother John T. Cook our Lodge has lost a faithful member, and Free Masonry, a very bright examplar. Resolved further, That our sympathies are extended to his bereaved widow and sons, and we commend them to our Heavenly Father, in their great grief. Resolved that a blank page in our book of minutes be suitably inscribed, a copy of these resolutions be sent to the family of the deceased, and the county papers be requested to publish them. Fraternally, S. D. Bloch, Neil McArthur, J. P. Benson, Jr., Committee.
