C. Gross In Rehoboth, Ala., on Monday night, March 26, 1906, when all nature was wrapped in sable robes of midnight groom the spirit of Mr. J. C. Gross winged its flight to that Celestial City, and into the arms of the blessed Savior whom he loved and trusted. A once happy home is now plunged into sorrow, and a voice that was always welcome to the ears of a devoted wife and two daughters has been hushed by the death angel. He was kind and affectionate as a brother spreading light and joy throughout the home circle and make it attractive to every visitor. He was a consistent member of the M. E. Church, and his strong faith in God and deep love for humanity made his hope cheerful and sympathetic. For some time his life was filled with physical weakness and at times his suffering was great. No one knew of his suffering as did his wife and daughters who were with him night and day and ministering to all his wants, and I know they have knelt by his bedside many times and prayed to the Heavenly Father if it be his will that he might be spared and the bloom of health restored to those pallid cheeks that were so deer to them all. Alas! that kind father never errs saw proper to pluck the full bloom rose and place it in that garden beyond where there are no burning rays of sunshine nor beating rains from clouds of sorrow to mar its everlasting beauty. 'Tis sad, sad, that one so hopeful should thus die, but we know that God doeth all things well. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. Brother Marshall at the grave yard in Rehoboth and at Hobbs grave yard they laid him to rest by the side of loved ones gone before, and leaves his wife and two daughters and two sons and other relatives to mourn his loss. May God bless the bereaved ones and bring all together in the home above.
