H. H. Hays, Jr., Dead.
H. H. Hays, Jr., died at 1 o'clock on the night of 17th of August at 
his father's residence in Canton Bend. For years he has been a great 
sufferer from Rheumatism, and for some months has been entirely 
helpless, he bore his affliction with fortitude and patience beyond 
man's conception, everyone could see that his suffering was intense, 
but none know what it cost him to bear it without complaint, he was 
perfectly resigned to his death, with faith that was beautiful in all 
the scriptural promise, and he knew that the gates would be opened for 
him, his family have our deepest sympathy in their sad affliction, but 
the thought he is free from suffering and is now at rest should 
suffice to help them bear their sorrow.
