Bettie, daughter of Col. and Mrs. H. H. Hayes, was born in 1869, died 7th June 1904. Between these dates a beautiful life was developed and recorded in the "Lambs Book of Life." She was united in marriage to Mr. L. H. Hart, January 14th, 1891. God gave to their keeping five little children that are left here without "mama" until such a time as he shall need to call them up higher to meet her in that beautiful realm of endless bliss. She was a consistent member of the A. R. P. Church for about ten years, her quiet but sweet influence in her church duties will be missed. She was a constant and sympathetic helper of her husband in all his work, she loved her home, family and children, she measured up to all that was required of her. Life for her was full of promise; and her hold of it was strong and tenacious. Her struggle against the inevitable result of her illness, which kept her confined to her room, about three months', was sublimely brave and heroic. The writer was with her during her suffering and heard her say, "I don't fear death but I have so much to live for." Her sweet spirit clung to her husband and little children, she fain would cleave to them and administer to their wants, but God needed one more soul in the New Jerusalem. Now husband, children, friends, grieve not without hope, for her soul is released from its earthly environments, has ascended the Celestial pathway and entered the heavenly gates where amidst the effulgent light the overwhelming glory of the land immortal her enraptured soul awaits your coming. "Do thou Lord midst pleasure or woe, For Heaven our spirits prepare; Then shortly we also shall know, And feel what it is to be there." F. H. H.
