Sol D. Bloch of Camden, and we deeply sympathize with the family in this great sorrow that has come to them. Wilcox Progressive Era, Thursday, September 8, 1904 Ruby Herzfeld Dies of Accidental Poisoning. At 2 o'clock this afternoon, at the family home, 751 Government Street after an illness of a little over a week, due to a fatal mistake, Miss Ruby Herzfeld passed away. Miss Herzfeld returned home on the afternoon of Sunday, August 21, and through a mistake, took a tablet of bi-chloride of mercury, intending to take another tablet for indigestion. As soon as the terrible mistake was discovered, physicians were summoned and relief attempted. The physicians did all possible and decided it would be at least nine days before the patient could be pronounced out of danger. The efforts of the physicians were unavailing, however, and the young lady, only 18 years of age, passed away, a victim of her own mistake. Deceased was a most estimable young lady, known and loved by a large circle of friends. She was the idolized daughter of Mr. Alfred Herzfeld and a niece of the Messrs. Bloch, of this city. She was the centre of a large circle in which she was recognized for her educational and womanly qualifications. She was a fine musician and on many occasions her skill was utilized in this city for sweet charity. Besides her father she is survived by brothers and sisters as follows: - Montrose, Julius, Addie, Flossie Herzfeld and many other relatives in Mobile, Birmingham and Selma. - Mobile Herald of Aug. 30th. Miss Herzfeld was also a niece of Ho. Sol D. Bloch of our city. Her mother was Miss Dora Bloch of Camden. This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/alfiles/ File size: 2.3 Kb
