Mr. C. W. Smiley, of our town received the sad intelligence on the 26th of last month that his nephew, Charley Hamilton, was dangerously ill and to come at once, but failing to receive the letter until the next day, when he took the first train for the home of his relative; but on arriving found that the spirit of the loved one had taken its flight, and a once happy home draped in sadness and mourning. Mr. Hamilton was an exemplary young man, and while only in his teens, he possessed many noble traits of character. He visited our town last summer, and while here made many friends and his actions then brought forth many words of eulogy from them. He was then in perfect health, but typhoid fever seized upon him, and after several weeks, in spite of skillful treatment and nursing, came out conqueror. We as a community extend our friend and neighbor, our sympathy, and can only point him and his to One who doeth all things well.
