Lyon. - Mobile Register of Jan 18th. The body of Dr. George G. Lyon, who died on Tuesday morning in Chicago, Ill., arrived in the city this morning over the Mobile and Ohio road, accompanied by his wife and sister and Mr. Tom Hallett. About two months ago Dr. Lyon was taken to Chicago in a serious condition, and after his arrival grew rapidly worse. He was forty-five years of age. A specialist from Chicago arrived here some weeks ago, and after consultation, deemed it expedient to have the patient go to Chicago for treatment. The deceased was a native of Demopolis, Ala., and about sixteen years ago came to this city and began the practice of medicine. He married Miss Rebecca Ulmer, of Camden, who, with one child survives him. He is also survived by his mother and one sister, Miss Anna Lyon, of Demopolis. His wife and sister were at his bedside when the end came. He leaves a large family connection throughout the state, being related to the Ross and Hearin families of this city. His father was the late George Gaines Lyon of Demopolis. He graduated from the University of Alabama in the summer of 1880, after which he took a course of medicine at the Polto Medical College, at Cincinnati, Ohio. Dr. Lyon enjoyed a large circle of friends in this city, being a member of the Athelstan Club, Order of Dragons and other social orders.
