Miss Minerva McCaskey, after an illness extending over a year, died March 6th, 1907, at the Inge-Bondurant Sanitorium in Mobile, where she had been taken for treatment about ten days previous. Although she had been in failing health for a long time the immediate cause of death was an acute attack of la grip which in her debilitated condition she was unable to withstand. Her sister, Miss Bettie McCaskey and other relatives were at her bedside when the end came. Miss McCaskey was born at Lower Peach Tree, this county, but lived in Camden all her life. She was the fourth of a family of thirteen children and is survived by two brothers, Dr. F. B. McCaskey, mayor of Wetumpka, Ala., and John W. McCaskey of Laurel, Miss., and one sister, Miss Bettie McCaskey of Camden. She was the daughter of the late Mrs. M. N. McCaskey, a worthy woman well remembered here and in business a long time as milliner. The funeral services were held here by Rev. J. P. Sanders of the Methodist church of which the deceased was a life-long member. Miss McCaskey was known and esteemed as a most exemplary lady. Bright in mind, she was vivacious and mirthful, and her cheery presence always gladdened an assemblage. Naturally she was most charitably inclined, ever ready to attend the sick and suffering, and when the death messenger came to other homes, like an ministering angel she was there to comfort and help. (We regret that the above was unavoidably left out in the make-up of last week's paper.)
