McMillan. It will grieve the early friends of this estimable lady to learn, that she died in Knoxville, Tenn., last Saturday, where her remains were interred beside her husband, the late Thomas B. McMillan, for many years in the past, the Circuit Court Clerk of Wilcox County. About 15 years ago, with her husband, she removed to Knoxville. Her husband preceeded her to the great beyond several years since. At her death, Mrs. McMillan was about 78 years of age. Her maiden name was Miss Frances Anderson, and she was a daughter of the late General William Anderson of Tennessee, and who was at one time, United States Senator from that State. Her early married life was passed in Camden, where she and her estimable husband, lived respected and esteemed by our people. Her surviving children are A. V. McMillan, of Camden, D. T. McMillan, of Knoxville, and a married daughter in Knoxville, Mrs. J. S. Robins, and several; grand children. To the family, our sympathies are extended in their sorrow. Wilcox Progressive Era, Thursday, March 26, 1908 OBITUARY Of Mrs. Fannie V. McMillan. We reproduce by request, from the Knoxville, Tenn., Journal and Tribune, the following concerning the death of Mrs. Fannie V. McMillan, a former resident of Camden: "Mrs. Fannie V. McMillan, widow of the late Thomas B. McMillan, whose death occurred a year ago, died Saturday morning at one o'clock, aged seventy-seven years. The deceased leaves three children, A. V. McMillan, of Camden, Alabama, David T. McMillan, of this city and Mrs. J. S. Robins, of this city. Mrs. McMillan's death followed a period of suffering. Twenty-six months ago she suffered a stroke of paralysis, but during most of the time since she has been perfectly conscious until a few days since. During all of the time she did not murmur or complain. She was gentle in her disposition, and led an exemplary Christian life. She was charitable to a fault. She had hosts of friends. The deceased was the daughter of Alexander Anderson and grand daughter of Joseph Anderson, both of whom were members of the United States senate from Tennessee, and this is one of two instances in history where both a father and his son served in the United States senate. The other instance occurred in the Adams family of Massachussetts. The living brother and sisters, of Mrs. McMillan are Judge David D. Anderson, of the criminal and circuit courts of this county; Mrs. J. Foster Scott, Sr., and Miss C. G. Anderson. The funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the family residence, Scott avenue and Central street. Rev. T. M. Lowry, pastor of the Third Presbyterian church of which the deceased had been a member for many years, will officiate. The interment will follow in Old Gray cemetery. Mrs. McMillan, the deceased, was born in Jefferson county, but at the age of six or seven years removed to this city with her distinguished father. Both the criminal and chancery courts were adjourned yesterday out of respect to Mrs. McMillan, whose death was early announced. Mr. David T. McMillan, the son, who lives in this city, is the deputy clerk and master of this county. The pall-bearers will be: Messrs. Jno. M. Brooks, Eugene Wilson, John M. Dailey, A. B. Bauman, Ed. Lennon, Chas. Roth and George Williams." Additional Comments: Wilcox Progressive Era Newspaper Microfilm located at the Alabama Department of Archives and History, Montgomery, Alabama.
