Mc. Boyd Passes Away at His Home, in Camden, Aged 87. After an illness covering several weeks, Dr. J. Mc. Boyd died Monday night at his home in Camden. At the time of his death he was in his eighty seventh year. The deceased was born in Boiling Springs, Wilcox county and resided in this county all his life. He was a deeply religious man and was a member of the O. S. Presbyterian church. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. C. W. McCully Tuesday afternoon, and were largely attended. When a young man Dr. Boyd graduated with honors at one of the leading medical colleges in Philadelphia and for many years was a successful practitioner of medicine in Wilcox county. He is survived by his wife, who before her marriage was Miss Nannie Frierson. He had resided in Camden for a number of years moving here from Canton. Several years ago he was seriously injured by a tree falling on him and from the effects of it his eyesight and hearing were greatly impaired. He bore his sufferings with christian fortitude and the closing years of his life were filled with the autumn serenity and calm of a well spent life. Wilcox Progressive Era, Thursday, May 14, 1908 Mr. E. D. H. Spiva and sister, Mrs. A. C. Oxford, of Birmingham, who were called here by the death of Mr. Spiva's uncle, Dr. J. McC.
