The sad tidings of the death by drowning of Alex McMillan, at Knoxville, Tenn., were received here Sunday morning. The deceased was the youngest son of Mr. A. V. McMillan of Camden. The particulars of his death were not given in the telegram received here, but it is supposed he was drowned while in bathing. Immediately on receipt of the telegram his father left for Knoxville. Alex was a good boy, and was loved by his schoolmates, and all his acquaintances. He was modest and retiring, but a very bright boy, and his sudden taking off just as he was on the verge of young manhood is a sad blow to his relatives, who have the sympathy of all our people. The deceased is survived by his father, Mr. A. V. McMillan, three sisters, Misses Virginia, Fay and Lucile McMillan, a brother, Thos. B. McMillan and his grandmother, Mrs. Spiva. For the past year, the young man had been attending school at Knoxville, making his home with his uncle, Mr. David T. McMillan.
