In Rehoboth, Ala., on Sunday night, Jan. 7, 1906, when all nature was wrapped in sable robes of midnight gloom the spirit of Miss Samantha Ray winged its flight to that Celestial city, and into the arms of the blessed Savior whom she loved and trusted. A once happy home is now plunged into sorrow, and a voice that was always welcome to the ears of a devoted sister and brother has been hushed by the death angel. She was kind and affectionate as a sister spreading light and joy throughout the home circle and making it attractive to every visitor. She was a consistent member of the Baptist Church and her strong faith in God and deep love for humanity made her hopeful cheerful and sympathetic. For some time her life was filled with physical weakness and at times here suffering was great. No one knew of her suffering as did her devoted sister and brother who were with her night and day and ministering to all her wants, and I know they have knelt by her bedside many times and prayed to the Heavenly Father if it be his will that she might be spared and the bloom of health restored to those pallid cheeks that were so dear to them. Alas! that kind father that never errs saw proper to pluck the full bloom rose and place it in that garden beyond where there are no burning rays of sunshine nor beating rains from clouds of sorrow to mar its everlasting beauty. "Tis sad, sad, that one so hopeful should thus die, but we know that God doeth all things well. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. Brother Marshall at their home in Rehoboth and at Hobb's grave yard they laid her to rest by the side of loved ones gone before. She leaves one sister and one brother and other relatives to mourn her loss. May God bless the bereaved ones and bring all together again in the home above.
