Miss Margaret Ratcliff was born in Canton Bend in 1833 and has since resided in the same home. While not a member of the church she was to all intents and purposes a true and conscientious christian, always charitable in thought and deed, ready at all times to render every aid and comfort to the sick and afflicted. Gniless as a child, she thought no harm of any one, nor did ever a word escape her that could be construed as a reflection on any one. For years she suffered the horrors of ill health, but through it all she was patient, kind and considerate of the comforts of others, often suffering rather than put her friends or family to inconvenience. If in the great beyond, before that great tribunal, the purity of character in human life is considered from the view point of the human estimate of excellence, by recalling her virtues and kindly acts throughout a long and useful life, we doubt not, that she will receive the joyous welcome that awaits those who have lived their religion and communed with Nature's God. Well done, enter thou. Her death occurred on June the sixth, 1906, and her remains laid to rest in the family burying ground in Canton.
