Though her children had been told a number of times by her physicians that she might pass away at any time, her health having been poor for many months, from causes from which fatal results might be expected, they were wholly unprepared for the end when it came, and the shock with all its fearful reality, was felt by her two daughters, Mrs. Fuller and Mrs. O. C. Farish, who were with her. Her sons who all have lucrative positions in Birmingham, were wired for and came at once and with her daughters carried her remains to Pleasant Hill, Dallas county, her old home, where in the presence of many life-long friends, were laid to rest beside her husband who preceded her several years ago to the great unknown. The subject of this sketch was a school-mate, class-mate and a life long friend of the writer. As I recall her pure, sweet face as I saw it then I feel that if I were an artist I could paint it in all of its beauty, so perfectly and vividly is it stamped on my memory. As a wife, mother and friend she was loyal and true. She was a consistent member of the Presbyterian church, and always keenly alive to all of its interests. She knew for a long time that she might be called away at any time and her heart's prayer was that she might be with her daughters when the end came, and God in His goodness answered this prayer. Her children have the sweet assurance that all is well with her, and that she has gone to a better, happier home. Her last words were "God be with me as I pass over the river." To the bereaved ones I extend my tenderest sympathy, and commend them to Him who is too wise to err, and too merciful to be unkind. A Friend.
