M. McConnico and Miss Beesie Deramus, both of Wilcox. The cause of the runaway marriage could not be ascertained but it is supposed that parental objections on the part of the young lady's parents was the cause of the elopement. They went around to the court house and Tax Collector C. P. Morrison went on the groom's bond for his license and in a few minutes Judge Pitts had said the words that made the happy couple man and wife. Candidate for Tax Collector John J. Babcock, not to be out done by Mr. Morrison going on the bond, stepped up and congratulated the couple most heartily, which they seemed to greatly appreciate. They were in a position where they needed a kindly word of sympathy and Uncle John's congratulations came in at an opportune time. About twenty-five or thirty people about the court house witnessed the ceremony. The bride was a beautiful young lady and the excitement under which she was laboring made her look all the more charming. The groom is of a family of Wilcox county and they greatly appreciate the assistance and sympathy extended them by gentlemen about the court house.
