Evergreen, Sept. 14. - Wednesday an unusually pretty wedding occurred at the Baptist Church in Evergreen, the contracting parties being G. F. Boykin of Brewton and Miss Mamie McCreary of this city. The church was tastefully decorated with smilax, potted ferns and pink carnations, forming not a small part of the adornment. Promptly at three o'clock the bridal party arrived, when two beautiful solos were sung by Hon. W. C. Compton, and one by Miss Annie Dee Sampey. Then, to the beautiful strains of the wedding march, played by Miss Lucile Jay, the bride, handsomely gowned in a brown Louisine silk, carrying an arm shower bouquet of white carnations with plumosa, and leaning on the arm of her father, entered the right aisle, preceded by her maid-of-honor and sister, Miss Eva McCreary, dressed in champagne embroidered silk tissue, bearing a cluster bouquet of pink carnations, also the ushers, Mr. J. D. Lee of Brewton, and Mr. John Chapman of Georgiana, with Mr. Herbert Rankin of Brewton, and Clay McCreary, on the left aisle. At the altar, the bridal part was joined by the groom and his best man, Mr. A. C. Avinger of Georgiana. The simple, but impressive ceremony was performed by Rev. W. A. Taliaferro, of Greenville. Shortly afterward, the young couple left on their wedding tour to Asheville, N.C., and other points, and will make Georgiana their future home. As Miss Mamie McCreary, no one has been more popular. Mr. Boykin is well-known in Camden having visited his sisters and aunt, Mrs. D. S. Pritchett and Miss Nannie Boykin, and Mrs. J. Mc. Boyd and many other relatives, frequently.
