A very quiet home wedding was celebrated here Monday afternoon when Mr. Rogers A. McCown, of Selma, was married to Miss Ethel A. Savage, of Camden. The ceremony was performed at the home of the brides' father, Mr. F, H. Savage, Dr. Abernathy, of Selma, Presiding Elder of this district, officiating. The wedding was a very quiet one, only the immediate members of the family being present. Immediately after the ceremony the newly wedded couple left for Anniston, Ala., where Mr. McCown has a good position with the railroad. The bride is well known in Camden, having lived here all her life. She is a member of the Methodist church and has always taken a prominent part in church work. She is also a fine business young woman and was formerly on the force of The Progressive Era and for the past year or so has been with one of the large general stores in Camden. The groom is also quite well known here. The wedding, which had been postponed on account of the death of the brides' little sister some time ago, was to have taken place in April, but owing to a change in Mr. McCown's location, he having been transferred from Birmingham to Anniston, it was decided to wait no longer. The arrangements were so hurriedly made that it was deemed inadvisable to have the more pretentious wedding that had been planned for the later date, hence it was a very quiet one. The Progressive Era unites with their many friends in wishing for Mr. and Mrs. McCown long life and much prosperity.
