Funeral services for Sallie Myrtle Bates, 80, of Crossett were held Saturday, June 21, at
4 p.m. at the Church of Christ with the Rev. Larry Culbreath officiating. Burial was at
Zion Cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.

Mrs. Bates died Thursday, June 19, at Summit Hospital in West Monroe, La. She was a native
of Ashley County, a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ of Crossett.

Survivors include two daughters, Charlene Chisham of Napa, Calif.; and Leone Wilcox, of
Crossett; 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her
husband, Alfred Bates, one sister and four brothers.

Pallbearers were Lonnie Gardner, Charles Gardner, Clyde Gardner, Bill Ricks, Dean Gardner
and Bobby Gardner. Honorary pallbearer was Eddie Lyons.
