F. Sikes, the original owner of the land on which Rogers, Ark., is now situated, was born in Perry County, Ala., in 1825. He is a son of Robert and Elizabeth (Bledsoe) Sikes, a history of whom is given in the sketch of Rev. J. Wade Sikes. B. F. Sikes is the eldest of their children, and was principally reared in Tennessee, where he was also educated, and afterward taught school. He was an educator in that State for twenty-five years, and in 1873 came to Arkansas and engaged in farming, becoming one of the wealthy agriculturists of the county and the owner of a large amount of real estate. He is now notary public, and gives his attention to the general development of Rogers. He was married, while a resident of Tennessee, to Miss Tabitha Lock, and they have reared a family of nine children: Martha E., Nancy T., Robert R., William W., Pollie M., Almira A., Edward E., Maggie May and Samantha A.
