All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************************** Berry, James Henderson-Washington Post, Jan. 31,1913-Ex-Senator Berry Dead- Confederate Veteran was Elected Governor of Arkansas in 1882-Bentonville, Ark. , Jan. 30-James Henderson Berry, Former U. S. Senator and Governor of Arkansas, died at his home here today after an illness of several weeks. He was elected U. S. Senator in 1883, and again in1889, 1895, and 1901. He was succeeded in the senate by the late Jefferson Davis Mar. 4,1907. He was a member of the commission appointed by Pres. Taft to mark the graves of Confederate soldiers who died in Northern prisons during the Civil war.
