DeShields, Handy 31. DeShields, Nancy Womack ADDITIONAL INFORMATION - 12/6/98 furnished by Reta DeShields Parton "I visited the cemetery in the early 80's and there were two more graves to the left of the gate as you entered the graveyard. Those two graves were marked by stones which were placed the full length of the graves in this manner /\ . This was also done on the graves in Tennessee where the Austin's are buried. It was told to my father many years ago these two graves were of Handy and Nancy Womack DeShields. Handy arrived in Boone County about 1844. Nancy was born in Arkansas. The stones were laid by Calvin DeShields who was a stonemason. I understand why the stones were removed because since the grave yard is in the center of a field and the grave yard has not been kept up, it was a place for snakes and such to burrow. But, the removal removed all markings of the graves."
