HARRELL -- Osie Z. Gates, 94, of Harrell (Calhoun County), died Wednesday at 
Bradley County Medical Center.  She was born Feb. 5, 1910, in Bradley County, 
a daughter of the late John R. Rowell and Mattie Mae Temple Rowell.  She was a 
homemaker.  She was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church at Jersey (Bradley 
County).  She was preceded in death on Nov. 12, 1981, by her husband, Carroll 
EdwardGates, whom she married on July 24, 1926; and one daughter, Katherine 
Louise Dalton.  Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn Hoper of Hampton 
(Calhoun County); one sister, Mistle Hollingsworth of Hermitage (Bradley 
County); five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-
grandchildren.  Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Shady Grove 
Cemetery at Jersey. Arrangements are by Frazer's Funeral Home of Warren.  
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
